OUTSIGHT LABS & TELL

Terms and conditions

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Learn safely. Play fairly.

These terms cover the Outsight Labs website and Tell, our cyber-awareness learning game. Tell provides educational examples and practice. It cannot guarantee that you will recognise every scam or prevent a security incident.

1. About the service

The website and Tell are operated by Outsight Labs. Contact us using our website enquiry form.

These terms apply when you use the service. A paid talk, workshop or other commercial engagement will have its own agreed scope, price and booking terms; browsing this site does not create a booking. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the service.

2. Your Tell account

Use an email address you are authorised to use and can access. Tell sends a one-time sign-in code; do not share it, use another person’s account or try to bypass authentication. Your detective name is generated by the game and your portrait is selected from preset characters. You are responsible for keeping your email account and devices secure. Report suspected unauthorised account access promptly.

If you are a child, ask a parent, carer or teacher for help before creating an account. An adult helping a child should explain account privacy and optional public league participation. We do not ask you to submit identity documents or a child’s real name through the game.

3. Educational examples

Messages, links, attachments, profiles and situations shown in cases are learning simulations. Do not submit real passwords, payment details or other confidential information to an example. References to third-party names or services do not imply sponsorship or endorsement. If you face a real security incident, use an appropriate trusted support channel; the game is not an incident-response or emergency service.

4. Fair play and acceptable use

Do not attack the service, introduce malicious code, attempt to access another account, manipulate scores, automate gameplay to gain an unfair ranking, evade security controls or use the service unlawfully. Do not use contact forms to send abusive material or other people’s confidential data. We may correct demonstrably erroneous scores or temporarily restrict access where reasonably needed to investigate abuse or protect users. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us about a mistake.

5. Progress, trophies and the league

Scores and trophies recognise game progress and are not professional qualifications or proof of security competence. League participation is optional and can be changed in Settings. Rankings depend on the game’s scoring rules and may change. We may update cases, scoring and achievements as the product develops. We aim to preserve progress but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every game feature will remain available indefinitely. We will give reasonable notice of material changes or closure where practicable.

Private leagues

A creator can invite users through a code, replace that code or delete the league. A member can join more than one league and leave a league without losing their individual game progress. Creating or joining shares your generated detective name, portrait, XP and solved-case count with members, including if you are not on the public league. Use group labels without real names and share invite codes only with intended members. Members cannot retrieve the creator’s invite code through the service, but anyone given a code may copy or share it. Private leagues do not give their creator access to members’ email addresses or account credentials and do not verify that a creator is a teacher or school representative.

6. Content and intellectual property

Outsight Labs or its licensors retain the rights in the service’s branding, character artwork, educational content and other materials, subject to any applicable open-source licences. You may use the service for your own learning and share links to it. Do not resell the service, imply that it is your product or reproduce substantial learning content or artwork without permission, except as permitted by law or a relevant licence. Third-party trade marks remain their owners’ property.

7. Privacy and cookies

Our privacy policy explains email sign-in, progress storage, public league information and your rights. Our cookie policy explains browser storage. Agreeing to these terms is not consent to optional marketing or tracking.

8. Availability and responsibility

We take reasonable care in providing and maintaining the service, but educational material can become outdated and the service may be unavailable during maintenance or due to faults. Always make independent checks before acting on a real suspicious message. We are responsible for loss or damage where applicable law makes us responsible; nothing here excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

9. Ending use and resolving concerns

You can stop using Tell at any time and delete your player account and progress in Settings. Contact us if you cannot access your account or want to raise a concern about a restriction or the service. We will consider complaints fairly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, without removing mandatory protections or rights to use local courts that apply to consumers elsewhere. Material revisions will be dated and communicated where appropriate.

Tell Schools

Tell Schools is a separate managed service for school-authorised teachers and generated pupil accounts. Its paid service order and school data-processing agreement govern that service. Public private leagues do not create a school-managed service. School content supports supervised awareness from age 10 through adults, without requiring accounts on the services discussed. School approval, safeguarding and age rules remain necessary.
